The Role in a Nutshell

Gunnedah Shire Council is on the lookout for a friendly, proactive Senior Public Facilities Officer to join the team in Gunnedah, NSW.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Manager of Public Facilities and step into their shoes when needed, playing a key part in the smooth operation of our public spaces—from parks and sporting fields to swimming pools, the airport, and bushfire management. You’ll help deliver essential services that make a real difference to the community.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support management of Public Facilities Unit functions
  • Assist with developing and implementing strategies and plans
  • Help with asset management alongside staff
  • Contribute to business planning and resource management
  • Prepare operational plans and budgets
  • Coordinate and supervise capital expenditure projects
  • Assist with tenders, quotations, and Council reports
  • Build relationships with facility user groups
  • Manage leases/licenses and engage in community consultation
  • Undertake Aerodrome Reporting Officer training and conduct inspections
  • Support bushfire management and continuous improvement
  • Perform administrative tasks and maintain records
  • Respond to customer requests in line with service standards
  • Participate in Council’s on-call roster
