The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Economy and Growth, the role will primarily be responsible for 

More specifically, your core responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Support Economy & Growth business activities including efficient record keeping, purchasing processes and team liaison
  • Prepare and distribute memos, reports, correspondence, agendas and other attachments as requested by team members and take and distribute minutes from Working Group meetings
  • Support the Economy & Growth team across key customer service points (e.g. face to face at the Cultural Precinct, Library, Visitor Information Centre and any Economic Development events) providing pleasant, accurate and timely responses on Council and local services, products and activities.
  • Drive Council vehicle(s) and engage with the team independently between the Saleyards, Cultural Precinct, Library, ACE Building and Elgin St.
  • Support events and meetings as required, sometimes requiring after hours work
  • Identify with the Manager Economy & Growth any training and development needs in line with the delivery of Council’s and the Directorate’s objectives and undertake all identified training and development actions as determined.
  • Comply with Councils’ code of conduct, Workplace Health & Safety management system and all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all correspondence is completed to the highest standard and meets Council's policies and procedures relative to corporate records management and the Customer Service Charter.
  • Provide receipting and cash handling processing services.
  • Maintain confidentiality, privacy and discretion  across customer  enquiries and team activities  
  • Other duties as required commensurate with this classification level.
  • Note that this position could be required to work in other Council teams from time to time.

Our next Business Support Officer - Economy and Growth

The ideal candidate will have;

  • Qualifications in Arts, Business or Office Administration or equivalent of 3 years' experience in a high demand office environment.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skill with an ability to work independently and initiative and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience in cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
  • High level computer, systems and database skill, including Customer Record Management Systems and venue booking systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to assess and prioritise workloads.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Work Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity.

Current NSW driver's licence.

Annual salary of $60,986 - $67,317 + Superannuation
