The Opportunity

The Gunnedah Shire Council now has an exciting 12 month fixed term opportunity for a Saleyards Attendant to join their team in Gunnedah.

The role of Saleyards Attendant is an integral part of our team and supports the commitment we make to our community in providing efficient, responsive, open and accessible service. The Gunnedah Saleyards are critical to the supporting the beef industry in our region, with producers, buyers and transport operators needing a quality facility.

Core duties:

  • Maintaining saleyard facilities and equipment in a safe and functional condition
  • Providing support on sale days as required, including ensuring records of stock sold
  • Ensuring animal welfare and public safety
  • Providing team support and assistance to the Saleyards Team Leader
  • Ensuring cleanliness of truck wash area, including EPA requirements.
  • Coordination with stock and station agents, trucks and other yard users.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have a demonstrated capability, experience and understanding in the following areas;

  • Reasonable welding experience
  • Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Firearms Licence
  • Current valid NSW LR or higher Drivers Licence 

You will also be a proactive and self-motivating team player with the ability to prioritise tasks, make decisions and solve problems that arise.

Annual Salary of $57,036 - $62,957 + Superannuation
