We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Events and Engagement Officer to join our team and help deliver impactful events and community engagement initiatives.
Role Overview:
As the Events and Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a wide range of community events and engagement activities. Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure events are inclusive, well-promoted, and successful, helping to strengthen our community spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development, delivery, and evaluation/improvement of Council-led events and programming of key internal and external events including, but not limited to:
- Council delivered events for the community
- Community lead events where Council is represented
- Australia Day Working Group and delivery of events
- Harmony Week, Youth Week and others as identified
- Anzac Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and Remembrance Day
- Develop and support delivery of youth programs including school holiday programs across Gunnedah Shire
- Support the Team Leader Cultural Precinct with projects and tasks as required
- Support for grant applications, project delivery and grant acquittal and administration as required
- Support in promotion of audience growth and reach for all Cultural Precinct events
- Live Music and Theatre Performances
- Film Festivals including FlickerFest
- Delegate boosting for meetings, launches, incentives, conventions and business events
- Provide support to selected community events and functions
- Develop and maintain comprehensive event documentation, including risk assessments, run sheets, budgets, event checklists and evaluations, according to Gunnedah Shire Council policies and best practice.
- Attend all events and ensure logistical tasks are managed and completed working collaboratively with other team members
- Support all functions, projects and events within the Economy and Growth team as a positive and enthusiastic team player where required and directed.
- Provide quality administration and other project and team support as required.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience in developing, planning and executing strategic and complex events within budgets and ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
- Excellent project management skills, ability to work independently across multiple projects and be calm under pressure in a demanding high-volume environment.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an understanding of marketing and promotions and an understanding of required communications styles with diverse stakeholders and evidence of building long-term professional partnerships.
- Working With Children Check.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
- Class C drivers license.
