Salary Range: T1-T10 ($482.00 - $1230.40 per week + 12% Superannuation)

Contract Type: Temporary Full Time (Duration of Traineeship - 4 Years)

Hours: Full Time, 38 hours per week

We are currently seeking an Apprentice Plumber to join our team and help us maintain these standards.

Role Overview:

As an Apprentice Plumber, you will assist in the servicing and maintenance of council's diverse range of assets while also maintaining a high level of Work Health Safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construction and maintenance of water service pump stations, reservoirs, water, and sewer infrastructure throughout the shire.
  • Through the Water Services Coordinator, provide advice and assistance to ensure accurate and timely decision-making on construction and maintenance related to water and sewer infrastructure matters.
  • To exercise all delegated functions, duties and responsibilities and implement without delay any decisions and/or directives flowing from management decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with Council’s WHS policies and with legislative requirements or regulations.
  • Accurately perform general water network maintenance operational works required to construct, repair, and maintain Council’s water infrastructure. This would typically include but not be limited to; the operation of small plant and hand tools, performing traffic control duties and applying basic engineering principles, systems and processes.
  • Work constructively and cooperatively with other members of the department to complete work programs in accordance with agreed timeframes and standards.
  • Apply WHS and risk management systems in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks accurately in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required qualifications essential for the position and undertake agreed training to meet the position’s desired skill level.
  • When qualifications and experience are reached, participate in on-call duties as required

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to operate various equipment assigned to the Water Services Section, or willingness to learn.
  • Participate, communicate within, and contribute to the assigned team.
  • A standard of physical fitness to meet the assessed job requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and continued commitment to work according to Council’s policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
  • Current valid NSW Class P Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).
  • WHS Construction Induction Certificate.
