Our Next Credit Control Officer
Reporting to the Coordinator Revenue, you will be responsible for managing Council’s accounts receivable processes, including monitoring overdue accounts, following up on outstanding payments, and assisting with revenue planning and debt recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- To assist in the delivery of revenue planning and collection services provided.
- Production and distribution of invoices and statements to customers.
- Administration, monitoring and reconciliation of debtor accounts and balances.
- Liaison with customers, internal and external stakeholders to support timely collection of outstanding accounts.
- Assessment, approval and creation of new credit accounts.
- Undertake credit and collection actions for outstanding rates, water and debtors in accordance with Council’s Debt Recovery and Hardship Policy provisions.
- Administration and negotiation of payment plans and settlements.
- Provision of effective and timely information to management and ratepayers.
- Efficient customer service.
- Assist the Revenue Team to ensure delivery of revenue functions in a cost-effective manner that achieves the outcomes prescribed in the Strategic and Operational plans of Council whilst meeting required standards and complying with all legislative requirements.
- Manage the provision of timely and quality revenue planning and collection services, advice, and information to the Department’s internal and external customers.
- Exercise all delegated functions, duties and responsibilities and implement without delay any decisions and/or directives made by Council and General Manager.
- Assist the development of Council’s Strategic Plan through proactive participation and completion of required elements from the Revenue section.
- Ensure compliance with Council’s Policies and the delivery of services in line with Council’s and the Department’s strategies, delivery and operational plans, departmental and business unit plans.
- Manage projects and tasks assigned to the incumbent.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets to deliver quality revenue planning and collection outcomes.
Key Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting/financial practices in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated high level communication and inter-personal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and team-based achievement.
- Proven ability to manage individual work programs and projects utilising skills, experience and specialist knowledge to facilitate achievement of departmental objectives.
- Advanced skills in the application of software, particularly financial systems.
- Demonstrated high level skills in data analysis, decision making and problem solving.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
- Current valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).
* While not required, desirable characteristics of a successful candidate could include:
- Experience in Local Government.
- A degree (or near completion of) in accounting, business, financial management or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of Revenue functions in a local government environment.
