Our Next CHSP Officer

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Groups and Community Supports Team Leader, you will be become part of GoCo's expanding team. GoCo specialises in providing personalised aged and community care services across the New England and North West regions of NSW, supporting older people in the community to live their life the way they choose for over 30 years.

GoCo is an approved provider for Home Care Packages, is funded to deliver Commonwealth Home Support Programme services, is a provider of Community Transport and is a partner in the delivery of services for the Carer Gateway.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a comprehensive, coordinated and integrated range of CHSP services for frail aged people living in the local area;
  • Develop care and support plans directly with the consumer and/or consumer representative (where appropriate), that:
    • are based on Consumer Directed Care principles
    • support the lifestyle choice of the customer to remain at home and in the community
    • achieve output goals and KPI’s
    • based on feedback from clients, their representatives, health professionals and service providers.
  • Ensure confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and endeavour to protect from discrimination or abuse. This also includes fulfilling requirements in relation to mandatory reporting (ie child protection and elder abuse).    
  • Provide flexible, timely services that respond to the needs of consumers and their carers
  • Work towards GoCo’s consumers receiving culturally safe, equitable access to the service regardless of geographical location, membership to a particular social group or any other factor which may have the potential to result in marginalisation.
  • Report regularly to the GoCo Group and Community Supports Team Leader through formal and informal support and supervision to ensure work practices, service provision and legislative requirements meet best practice standards. 

Key Requirements

  • Certificate III in Community Services (CHSP, Aged Care or Disability Services).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer and/or community service.
  • Demonstrated ability to support people to achieve goals related to their quality of life and ability to live independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with vulnerable people and their carers and with people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
  • Current valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).

* While not required, desirable characteristics of a successful candidate could include:

  • Experience in Local Government.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Certificate IV in Community Services (Aged Services) or similar.
