Our Next Saleyards Attendant
Reporting to the Team Leader Saleyards, you will be responsible for tasks supporting the day-to-day operation of the Gunnedah Saleyards and the delivery of weekly and other sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining saleyard facilities and equipment in a safe and functional condition
- Providing support on sale days as required, including ensuring records of stock sold
- Ensuring animal welfare and public safety
- Providing team support and assistance to the Saleyards Team Leader
- Ensuring cleanliness of truck wash area, including EPA requirements.
- Coordination with stock and station agents, trucks and other yard users.
Some other general tasks could include:
- Inspection of yards and pens.
- Operate plant and equipment safely and effectively.
- Welding and metal fabrication.
- Concreting.
- Equipment maintenance and repair.
- Saleyards draw, planning and coordination
- Security checks.
- General cleaning.
- Lighting repairs.
- Basic plumbing.
- Weed control.
- Pollution control.
- Animal welfare including feeding and watering.
- Animal control and disposal.
- Basic administration and record keeping.
Key Requirements
- Reasonable welding experience.
- Ability and continued commitment to work according to Councils' policies and Code of Conduct, with or without supervision.
- Stock handing experience
- Reasonable plumbing experience.
- Current Firearms Licence.
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Current valid NSW Class C Drivers Licence (ongoing employment is conditional on maintaining this Licence).
* While not required, desirable characteristics of a successful candidate could include:
- Bob cat experience.
- Experience in Local Government.
